Astronauts begin debriefing after satellite rescues
Back from their historic space salvage mission, Discovery's crew of four men and one woman begin several days of debriefings today with specialists and other astronauts.
Discovery returned to earth Friday from its eight-day mission, after astronauts Joe Allen and Dale Gardner retrieved from space two useless satellites, Palapa 2B and Westar 6.
Insurance companies, which paid NASA $5.5 million for the salvage job, hope to resell the satellites to recoup up to $70 million of the $180 million in claims honored when the satellites misfired into improper orbits in February.
